Urgent: Chief Operating Officer Needed At Mining Company

A mining company which specializes in the extraction and processing of minerals, metals, and other geological materials from the earth is currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with prior experience in the mining space.

The candidate will be responsible for the safe and profitable operation of all company activities, including mining, processing, port, haulage, and technical services, ensuring compliance with company, statutory, and regulatory requirements. 

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, strategic planning, and financial management to ensure efficient processes and goal achievement. 

He or she would be responsible for maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, leading and mentoring the operations team, managing stakeholder relationships, and overseeing major projects. 

The COO would drive technological innovation, upholds environmental and social governance (ESG) standards, and develops crisis management plans to handle operational disruptions, ensuring the company's sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

The job location is in Lagos state, Nigeria and the work mode is Hybrid.

Key Responsibilities: 

The responsibility includes overseeing daily operations, developing long-term business strategies, optimizing production plans, and ensuring the effectiveness of engineering and project management services. 

The COO will also drive financial performance, collaborates with the finance team to manage budgets, and implements strategies for revenue growth and cost reduction.

In addition to operational leadership, the COO would champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. 

The role involves fostering relationships with key stakeholders, representing the company in negotiations, and maintaining positive external and internal relationships. 

Effective team management is also crucial, including supervising team members, communicating organizational goals, managing performance, and supporting professional development.

Requirements for the position: 

The requirements for the position include significant technical knowledge of Minerals Processing and Mining, with at least (10) ten years in a Senior Executive Management Role, strategic thinking and innovative on operational and technical aspects of the business.

The candidate must have an ability to coach and mentor direct reports to improve their performance and impact. 

And he or she must have a proficiency in relationship management, network building and team development.
